Since its establishment in 1966, Tratos’ mission has always been people-oriented. By creating jobs in most deprived areas, Tratos is continuously giving its contribution to support the local communities and in achieving Goal 11 of the UN Global Goals: Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Sustainability, if you really mean it – and we do – is not about ‘supporting’ a cause, it is about helping deliver it, every single day.
Employment and job creation is central to our economic contribution in each of the 5 areas where we have a footprint. In Tuscany, approximately 93% of our employees are from local communities. In the Tratos factory in Sicily, it employs people from the Catania area and local community.
Even in the UK, Tratos is a major employer in Knowsley, an economically deprived area in the north-west of England. Tratos UK Ltd operates using 95% of the workforce from the local communities.
It is of great significance the fact that since 1966, Tratos has been paying more than 10% of its turnover in wages and other employment costs for a total value of £850 million.
