Prof Maurizio Bragagni is Chairman and CEO of Tratos Ltd, the manufacturing division of global cable maker Tratos Group, for which he has also served as a member of the Board since 2000. He leads the company’s everyday operations, successfully expanding in the UK market and becoming one of the leaders within the cable industry.
Chartered Director and Fellow Member of the Institute of Directors, Prof Bragagni exercises his roles in full compliance with the IoD Code of Professional Conduct. He is keen to implement an appropriate governance structure within every organisation he works for, accompanied by robust financial management and firm control of leadership and strategy.
Under Prof Maurizio Bragagni’s leadership and vigorous work, in 2019 the company won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of Innovation for one of its most advanced cables. He has persistently worked toward instilling a culture of innovation and sustainability, encouraged by adopting the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals into Tratos’s framework for growth.
In recognition of the achievements of the senior executives who demonstrate exceptional leadership in manufacturing and act as champions for more broadly sustainable business in their sector, Prof Bragagni won Leader of the Year at the Made in Britain Impact Awards 2023.
A successful entrepreneur with strong commercial and business acumen, Prof Bragagni has proven his diplomatic skills. In 2019, he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of San Marino to the UK and Northern Ireland, a duty he carries on with great passion and has achieved many essential things in strengthening further friendly bilateral relations between the two countries. From October 2023, he holds the position of Alternate Governor of San Marino to the European Bank for Development and Reconstruction (EBRD), working closely with the EBRD to align with San Marino’s policy objectives and enhance the bank’s operations.
Maurizio Bragagni’s academic involvement
Prof Maurizio Bragagni is a proud member of the Institute for Family Business (IFB) and the Society of Leadership Fellows established by St George’s House. His vast and diverse expertise has led to his appointment as an Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow of Management at the Bayes Business School, City University of London, where he concentrates his time on the study of sustainability strategy. He is also an Honorary Visiting Professor at the Institute of Management and Leadership, University Bolton, contributing to leadership development and advancing research in challenging fields such as sustainable development, circular economy, energy security, and net-zero emissions commitments.
Maurizio Bragagni’s dedication to “giving back to society”
Embracing the principles of giving back to society, in 2019, Prof Bragagni set up the Esharelife Foundation to support children, women, and young people in some of the world’s most disadvantaged areas. He strongly believes in the value of good quality education, and only through it will it be possible to drive positive change in the world.
In addition to his successful business career, Prof Maurizio Bragagni has written several books and articles on various topics, varying from the family business and sustainable development to the importance of giving back to society, from the development of leadership and advancing research in fields such as circular economy, energy security, to reforming the tax system and achieving net-zero emissions commitments.
