Global cable manufacturer Tratos has appointed non-executive Simon Blagden CBE to work alongside its leadership team to help further develop the company’s worldwide growth strategy.
Blagden, who is non-executive Chairman of Fujitsu UK and a member of its UK leadership team, has 30 years’ business experience in the IT and Telecoms industry, initially at GEC where he was an International Commercial Manager.
At Tratos he will concentrate on working with senior colleagues to deliver an innovation-led strategy to develop new territories and markets.
He said: “I’m excited to be working with this global business. It really has significant global reach and is probably the last cable and fibre manufacturer in the world to continue to deliver such impressive international growth.”

The North Yorkshire businessman who has worked within the industry both in the UK and internationally was appointed MBE in 1997 for services to export and appointed CBE in 2016 for services to the economy.

- Member of the expert panel advising Government on Technical and Professional Education
- Industry Chairman of the Parliamentary Internet, Communications and Technology Group (an All-Party Parliamentary Group)
- Chairman of HRH The Duke of York’s charity, The Duke of York’s Community Initiative.
