CW 1280/1252 AERIAL PET-PEQ BT

Tratos is a long-established manufacturer of Telecommunication Cables, a family of cables used for the transmission of Data, Information, Voice and Images. Production at Tratos covers almost all the installation needs of Telecommunication Cabling.

Mechanically these cables contain integral cable suspension and special sheaths as demanded by the application of combined self supporting (Figure of eight cross-section) aerial cables as detailed in BT Specification CW 1252.  Tratos can advise on the selection of the correct strength member to support the weight of the cable for the prescribed span and to withstand any addition loading caused by wind, ice and perching birds.

Electrically these cables are cellular-polyethylene insulated jelly filled colour coded quad cables with copper conductors stranded into a compact and circular assembly as detailed in BT Specification CW 1280.

Conductor sizes available are 0.63 mm and 0.9 mm. The standard number of quads available is from 7 to 520 but other numbers of quads are available on request. Tratos also manufacture similar cables in traditional paired construction.

When specially ordered, cables can be supplied with an aluminium foil moisture barrier in combination with the polyethylene sheath.

A shotgun-protected cable containing a corrugated steel tape can also be provided if specially ordered.

The cable meets or exceeds the requirements of CW 1252 and CW 1280.

For use as a self supporting aerial cable with or without an aluminium foil moisture barrier and with or without shotgun-protection unless specially ordered.

  • Insulation: Cellular PE (cables with foam-skin Pe are available on request)
  • Cabling: Quad; unit and sub-unit (Traditional pair construction on request)

  • Water penetration: Filling compound fully filling the interstices of the cable

  • Single Strand suspension strand. Minimum tensile strength 1100N/mm2, Yield (Limit of Proportionality) ≥ 4.5kN. Maximum tensile strength 7.5kN. 
  • Multi-Strand preformed suspension member: Maximum tensile strength 20kN
