TRATOSAviation® – 400Hz – Aircraft Ground Power Supply Cable
Flexible 400Hz cable for ground supply of aircraft
Tratos Aircraft Ground Power supply are designed and manufactured to comply with International Standards and Recommended Best Practices. Tratos produce a complete range of cables to meet all the power requirements of the latest commercial and military aircraft as well as 400Hz avionics, missile, and radar equipment.
Part of the superior, unique Tratos JBA® family of sheathing compounds, designed and developed by Tratos for the offshore oil industry, the rubber sheaths on these ground supply cables have outstanding resistance to the fluids commonly found on airfields mineral oils, hydraulic oils, aviation fuels and diesel fuel as well as the climatic conditions encountered worldwide, 100% humidity, water spray and deluge. Tratos sheathing compounds have high resistance to abrasion, tearing and mechanical abuse. They remain flexible even at sub-zero temperatures thus easing the job of the ground crews who have to handle these Aircraft Ground Power cables in use.
Manufactured from fully annealed flexible tinned copper conductors, with rubber (elastomeric) insulation and sheath, by placing the neutral core in the centre, splitting the phase cores in two and then connecting diametrically opposite cores for each phase, ensures an electrically symmetrical design with lowest possible losses.
Tratos have developed these Aircraft Ground Power cables to have the optimum balance of electrical and physical properties, toughness to withstand frequent coiling and reeling, festooning from walkways and trailing along the ground.
For installations where electrical noise and interference could be a problem Tratos can provide screened (shielded) cables and sheathing (jacketing) materials, to match the environment in which the cable will be employed. For safety critical applications Tratos can also supply a complete range of enhanced fire performance cables manufactured from flame retardant, Low Smoke, Zero Halogen (LSZH) materials.
As a recognised world leader in the supply of cables for use on Crane reeling and festoon systems in Ports worldwide, Tratos can bespoke each cable to suit the particular method of use, festooning, reeling or trailing.
As the actual manufacturer of these 400Hz Aircraft Ground Power cables, not simply a distributor, Tratos has total control of the design, quality and manufacturing process from the purchase of the raw materials through to final testing and despatch to our customers. Having control of the manufacturing process Tratos can ensure compatibility with most makes and types of cable glands and couplers.
