Oil & Gas BS6883

Tratos produces an extensive range of Oil & Gas BS6883 cables for on and offshore use in the Oil & Gas industry. An important part of this range are the cables manufactured in accordance with British Standards as well as UKOOA Guidelines. These cables are designed for fixed wiring of lighting, power, control, instrumentation and propulsion circuits in ships and on mobile and fixed offshore units having a rated voltage up to and including 8.7/15kV. Fire resistance (limited circuit integrity) versions are available up to and including 3.3/3.3 kV rating.

These cables are available with Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) insulations (BS 6883) or Mica glass tape/Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) insulations (BS 7917) in Armoured or Unarmoured designs, screened or unscreened with either reduced halogen (SW2) or halogen free (SW4) sheaths.

Cables manufactured to both BS 6883 and BS 7917 are available with the award winning unique Tratos Oil & Gas JBA® sheathing compound. The Oil & Gas BS 6883 JBA® family of cables are mud resistant, flame retardant to extreme temperatures and capable of withstanding extreme conditions encountered offshore. The BS 7917 JBA® family of cables are mud resistant, fire resistant to extreme temperatures and capable of withstanding extreme conditions including water and impact.

Tratos JBA® sheathing compound match the environmental conditions found indoor or outdoor onboard ships and offshore installations – a saliferous and corrosive atmosphere, 100% humidity, water spray and deluge, mineral oils, hydraulic oils, crude oil and diesel fuel. For longest life in locations where drilling “mud” is present, Tratos recommends the use of SW4 designated cables.

Tratos also manufactures and supplies an equivalent range of Oil & Gas BS6883 cables in accordance with the IEC 60092 series of Standards and Norwegian Technical Specification TS 606. Cables designed to IEEE 1580  and CSA C22.2 No.38-05 Cold bend and impact (-40°C) are also available on request.  

In partnership with Brazilian manufacturer MFX, Tratos can supply umbilical and highly specialised submarine cables for power, control, signalling and fibre optics.  Tratos can also design and develop composite types that include any or all of these elements.
