Tratos FIBRE® CW1853 – COF 600
Telecommunication Cables / Optical Fibres Cables / UK Telecom Fibre Optic Cables
SPECIFICATION CW1804 FOR CABLE OPTICAL FIBRE 200 – BLOWN – EXTERNAL – SINGLEMODE NON-PRESSURISED
This range of cables is designed for installation into sub-duct by the use of air blown techniques. In some circumstances the cables may be installed short distances by the use of direct pulling techniques with a rope.
These cables are of loose tube construction containing 12 to 288 singlemode fibres within a non-pressurised black polyethylene sheath.
These cables are for use in transmission systems operating over the wavelength range 1260nm to 1650nm.
This specification requires a loose tube construction in units of 12 colour coded fibres within each water blocked tube. The required number of tubes plus dummy fillers where required are assembled helically in one or two layers around a non-metallic central strength member, the specification requires that the cable is neutrally balanced along its central axis. A black PVC insulated copper conductor is specified in the unit assembly to provide an easy method of detecting the cable once installed. The interstices contain water blocking before the application of a water blocking binder tape and black polyethylene sheath, rip cords are inserted under the sheath to aid stripping and termination of the cable.
The Step Index single-mode optical fibre (SMF) fibres specified by BT met or exceed the requirements for both Category 1 (and if required Category 2 fibres) as specified in CW 1505 for systems operating in the wavelength range of 1260nm to 1625nm.
