UKOOA
Guidelines for Instrumentation, Power and Control Cables for Fixed and Mobile Production Facilities published by the UK Offshore Operators Association.
These Guidelines have been developed in response to the offshore industry’s desire to standardize cable types for instrumentation, telecommunication and electrical power and control.
The Guidelines cover the requirements for thye design, manufacture, inspection and testing of elastomeric instrumentation, power and control cables for offshore installations. The Guidelines are complementary to BS 6883
Cable voltage ratings covered include:
- 150/250 V instrumentation pairs, triples and quads
- 600/1000 V insulation for single and multicores
- 1.9/3.3 kV insulation for single and multicores
- 3.8/6 kV insulation for single and multicores
- 6.35/11 kV insulation for single and multicores
- 8.7/15 kV insulation for single and multicores
Fire performance of these cables include minimum fume and toxicity under exposure to flame in a fire condition according to their performance type, all cables meet IEC 60332 Part 3 Category A test, in addition some cables are Fire resistant types meeting IEC 60331-11 (fire alone at 750oC).
There are 4 types of sheathing compounds specified which have different enhanced oil resistance and fire performance.
