Fiberness 2014: Tratos’ 10th International Exhibition

Fiberness 2014, Tratos international annual exhibition, attracted senior executives from leading telecom companies to discuss the latest innovations in the field of cabling and fibre optics cables.

The event, which took place on 5th June in Pieve San Stefano – the location of Tratos Cavi SpA’s Italian headquarters – is Tratos’ 10th international exhibition dedicated to the technological advancement of cable systems manufacturing.

This year’s guest speakers included Daniel Roffinella of Telecom Italia, Francesco Montalti of ITU-T SG15, Paola Regio of Telecom Italia, Jan Vandenbroeck of TE Connectivity and Massimo Tarsi of Open Access Telecom.

Hosted by Tratos’ President Albano Bragagni, the exhibition attracted key leaders within the telecommunications sector such as Telecom Italia, Fastweb and Metroweb to name a few, signaling strong interest in Tratos’ new series of FTTH optical cables.

Specifically designed to connect individual properties inside buildings and optimised for brownfield construction networks, the new FTTH cables run vertically from the bottom to the top of the building, and one or more of the cables in the bundle can be branched off at any point and connected to the end user. A reduced amount of connectivity points (splices, connectors) reduces the installation time, thereby minimising disruption for residents.

“Fiberness 2014 is testimony to our ability to innovate by producing systems that truly work”, said Mr Albano Bragagni. “We are leaders of FTTH in Europe and our news series of FTTH optical cables consist of another groundbreaking innovation for the industry. Considering the increasing development of broadband services, we believe this type of cable will be one of the most rapidly developing products in the next few years.”

The coordinator of the event, Mirko Gori – Sales Area Manager at Tratos said: ‘‘this year’s event was attended by all key figures within the Italian telecommunications market and further afield. After a hiatus spanning years, the telecommunications market is returning to a period of development. This is driving innovation the need for innovation in the industry and we are proud to be at the forefront of solutions that until a year ago seemed impossible.”
