TRATOS GROUP SHARES CORONAVIRUS CONTINGENCY MEASURES

British cable manufactuer offers reassurance for customers, colleagues and supply-chain partners

During this challenging period, Tratos has put in place a plan to ensure business continuance.  Tratos has worked to re-align its production and delivery methods to underpin customer confidence and ensure minimum disruption and the health and wellbeing of customers, staff and supply-chain partners.

The Tratos Plan:

Communication

  • Tratos will provide weekly update bulletins offering up-to-date information about any Coronavirus impacts on its products and services and steps to manage them.  Its priority is health and safety.

Delivery

  • Tratos has moved to alternative delivery means in order to reduce the risk of any potential contamination-spread and protect people across the supply chain.  Tratos has switched from road to rail for land-based transportation, minimising direct human handling, and with product shipped in containers. This change may add up to 15 days to delivery times, however, the company holds considerable contingency inventory at its UK sites and will do everything in its power to meet customers’ need-by delivery requirements.
  • Tratos’ parent company in Italy is subject to the Italian Government’s restrictions on the movement of people.  Movement of goods is unaffected.  Both Italian production facilities – in Tuscany and Sicily – are outside of the infection zone.

Staff

  • Tratos’ production facilities benefit from the most up to date automated plant.  As many staff as possible have been removed from populated areas, including some administrative support staff.  This may result in some administrative processes taking a little longer.

Every day we are learning more about this virus.  The UK and Italian Governments have taken sensible steps to combat the spread and treat those who need it.  Most who contract it will recover fully, and our thoughts and prayers are with the most vulnerable among the sufferers and their families.  Italy has the world’s third most advanced national health system, Italians who test positive for the virus are in good hands.

Our approach is to hope for the best, plan for the worst. Part of that involves forward-thinking and communicating with our supply partners, our customers and our staff to keep everyone safe and business moving forward.

Every business is facing challenges.  We appreciate your understanding and patience – you have ours.

Best regards
