Tratos to attend SPE Offshore Europe

Tratos UK, manufacturers of subsea cables for the oil and gas industry will be attending next month’s SPE Offshore Europe, the largest technical Exploration and Production event in Europe.

The event, to be held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre from 8th-11th September, has over 1,500 exhibitors attending and is expected to attract more than 63,000 visitors from around 100 countries.

Visitors to the Tratos stand will be able to learn more about its Tratos JBA® special cable range designed and manufactured to cope with the arduous conditions of the oil and gas industry.

Lloyds approved Tratos JBA® cables are mud, fire and extreme temperature resistant. They are also resilient to water and mechanical impact. Tratos JBA® cables were supplied in 2013 to the North Sea Jasmine platform project where the company was awarded a contract by ConocoPhillips to supply £5 million worth of specialist fire resistant cables for Phase 1 of the development.

Here Tratos was the only cable manufacturer able to satisfy the stringent application, specification and standardisation requirements for the project.

With offices in Aberdeen, Tratos has a successful track record providing off the shelf and bespoke designed upstream, downstream and subsea cables for the oil and gas industry.

The challenging environments of the oil and gas industry require exceptional durability from all equipment, especially cabling that may be permanently open to the elements or used alongside heavy duty, industrial equipment that could cause damage.

Consequently, all Tratos offshore cables have been tested extensively in laboratory trials and actual installations and are proven to be exceptionally reliable. Tratos cables are also produced to a very wide range of standards including UK standard BS 6883, IEC 60092-353, Norwegian standard NEK 606 and Eni Italian standard.

Tratos is Europe’s only independent cable manufacturer. Established in 1966, the company has five manufacturing facilities in Italy and the UK and employs more than 400 people producing electrical, electronic and fibre optic cable solutions.
