TRATOS FIBRE® CW1822

CABLE OPTICAL FIBRE 45 - INTERNAL - MULTI MODE (50/125µm)

Telecommunication Cables / Optical Fibres Cables / UK Telecom Fibre Optic Cables

This range of non-metallic, loose tube construction LFH (Limited Fire Hazard) optical fibre cables containing 12 and 24 graded index multimode (50/125μm) optical fibres is specifically designed for use in conventional cable structures and blown fibre bundles within buildings where good Reaction to Fire Performance is required.

These cables are of loose tube construction containing 12 graded index multimode
(50/125μm) fibres colour coded within each dry tube. One or two tubes plus dummy fillers where required are assembled helically around a non-metallic central strength member, the design parameters being specially chosen to ensure that the cable is neutrally balanced along its central axis. The assembly is wrapped in a tape and extruded Halogen free flame retardant thermoplastic material coloured orange (other colours on request). Two rip cords are inserted under the sheath to aid stripping and terminating the cables. The robust LSZH sheath used by Tratos ensures outstanding pliability and protection.

Tratos have developed this cable to have the optimum balance of properties, fire performance, toughness to withstand blowing or pulling during installation combined with a smooth, low coefficient of friction, surface, allowing a significant reduction in installation time due to pliability and ease of handling when placing or dressing the cable into position.

The transmission application for these 50µm core diameter, multimode optical fibres cables are for systems operating with nominal wavelengths of 850nm and 1300nm optimised for operation in the 1300nm wavelength region and provide a specified transmission capability in the 850nm wavelength region.

Tratos uses Lucent OFS and Prysmian fibres to manufacture the Optical Fibre Cables supplied to BT.

The optical fibres used by Tratos meet or exceed the requirements specified in CW 1504.

The cable itself meets or exceeds the requirements of CW 1822

All of the polymeric materials used in the construction of cables for BT meet or exceed the requirements of BT Specification CW1500-7 and are RoSH compliant

CW 1822 requires the cable to be manufactured in accordance with Classification E of BT Specification M84 with an additional requirement of 280ºC minimum Flammability Temperature Index of the sheath however cables are available from Tratos to meet a minimum CPR reaction to fire performance of Cca s1b d1 a2.

Guidance for the installation of telecommunications cabling is contained in BS 6701 Telecommunications equipment and telecommunications cabling. Specification for installation, operation and maintenance.
