TRATOS FIBRE® CW1850

CABLE OPTICAL FIBRE 250 - EXTERNAL - SMALL FORMAT RODDABLE NON-METALLIC FIBRE CABLE

Telecommunication Cables / Optical Fibres Cables / UK Telecom Fibre Optic Cables

This COF 250 single mode fibre cable is specifically designed and manufactured for installation into congested underground duct using the inbuild FRP non-metallic rods, it is also suitable by direct pulling techniques with a rope or glass fibre pulling rod. This cable can also be fixed to wooden overhead telegraph poles.

The cable is for use in transmission systems operating over the wavelength range 1260nm to 1625nm.

The cable is of water blocked, loose tube construction containing 12 single mode colour coded fibres, the individual fibre identification scheme used is in accordance with table 1 of CW 1850. The loose tube plus 2 FRP rods are assembled, flat in parallel, with the tube in the between the no-metallic rods, the design being specially chosen to ensure that all strain taken by the FRP rods. The assembly is sheathed overall in a rectangular section with black high density polyethylene, two rip cords are inserted under the sheath to aid stripping and termination of the cable. The robust polyethylene sheath used by Tratos meets or exceeds the requirements of BS EN 50290-2-24 and ensures outstanding pliability and protection.

Tratos has developed this cable to have the optimum balance of properties, toughness to pulling into ducts combined with a smooth, low coefficient of friction, surface, to ease installation and prevent jamming.

The Step Index single-mode optical fibre (SMF) fibres used to manufacture this cable for BT met or exceed the requirements for both Category 2 as specified in CW 1505 for systems operating in the wavelength range of 1260nm to 1625nm.

Tratos use Lucent OFS and Prysmian fibres to manufacture the Optical Fibre Cables supplied to BT.

The complete cable meet or exceed the requirements of CW 1850.

All of the polymeric materials used in the construction of cables for BT meet or exceed the requirements of BT Specification CW1500-7 and are RoSH compliant.
