TRATOS FIBRE® CW1854

CABLE OPTICAL FIBRE 800 – AIR BLOWN – RIBBON - SINGLEMODE

Telecommunication Cables / Optical Fibres Cables / UK Telecom Fibre Optic Cables

These non-metallic cables are Tratos alternative constructions to the ribbon construction containing 144 to 864 single mode fibres within a non-pressurised black polyethylene sheath of the CW 1854 designs.

This range of fibre cables is specifically designed for installation into subsurface ducts by the use of air blown techniques although in some circumstances the cables are suitable for installation over short distances by the use of direct pulling techniques with a rope or glass fibre pulling rod. These cables are of tubular construction each tube containing 12 single mode fibres designed and constructed to combine highly flexibility with optimal handling characteristics for dressing into position on racks or trays.

The fibres in each tube are colour coded using the Telecommunication Industry Association (TIA) colour code, each tube is also uniquely identified.

Constructed in units of 12 colour coded fibres within each water blocked tube. The required number of tubes plus dummy fillers as necessary are assembled helically in one layer around a non-metallic central strength member, the design being specially chosen to ensure that the cable is neutrally balanced along its central axis. The interstices contain dry water blocking before the application of a water blocking binder tape and black high density polyethylene sheath, two rip cords are inserted under the sheath to aid stripping and termination of the cable. The robust polyethylene sheath used by Tratos ensures outstanding pliability and protection.

Tratos has developed this cable to have the optimum balance of properties, flexibility with toughness to withstand blowing or pulling into underground ducts combined with a smooth, low coefficient of friction, surface, to ease installation and prevent jamming.

The single-mode optical fibre (9/250µm) fibres used to manufacture these cables for BT meet or exceed the requirements for both Category 2 as specified in CW 1505 for systems operating in the wavelength range of 1250nm to 1625nm.

Tratos uses OFS and Prysmian fibres to manufacture the single mode Optical Fibre Cables supplied to BT.

These cables meet or exceed the requirements of CW 1854.

All of the polymeric materials used in the construction of cables for BT meet or exceed the requirements of BT Specification CW1500-7 and are RoSH compliant
