TRATOS RS US MW SCREENED MULTI CORE
ROLLING STOCK POWER CABLES ACCORDING TO EN50264-2-2
TRATOS RS US-MW 0.6/1 kV Standard Wall Power & Multicore Screened Cables
Tratos manufactures a range of medium wall muti-core screened cable for use in rolling stock power and control cables, having special fire performance requirements as fixed wiring or where there is limited flexing.
Ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) forms the insulation and a sheath of cross-linked low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) elastomeric material, a synthetic rubber compound which affords very good durability that can resist heat, oil, vibration, chemical aggression.
A braided cable, alternatively known as either a cable screen or cable shielding is the application of a fine wire mesh or weave over the twisted conductors. This is generally in the form of multiple Plain or Tinned Copper fine wire strands woven together to give specified braid coverage. There are multiple benefits to braided cables. Firstly, the actual braid creates a screen or shield around the conductors which directly reduces the electromagnetic influence from other sources either internal or external. This shield or screen in effect improves the overall effectiveness of the internal conductors. The cable braid also increases the cables’ mechanical strength where rugged performance is required particularly when the cable is to be deployed within a harsh environment.
EN50264-2-1 power & control cables cables, having special fire performances, with flexible conductors to BS EN 60228, with a-25C to +90C EI101, EI103 -40C to +90C EI102, EI104 core operating temperature in 0.6/1kV and 1.8/3 kV voltage grade.
The materials Tratos uses have been developed over many years to provide required mechanical and thermal properties, fire performance requirements to International (IEC), British and European standards.
Tratos rolling stock cable comply with the strict technical requirements in terms of fire-performance for both interior and external use; EN 45545-2 (HL3 R15 & R16) and Transport for London (TfL) S1180 A9 Standard for rolling stock materials performance requirements.
Tratos EN50264-2-1 cables have the following properties; Halogen free, flame resistance, Low smoke, low toxicity, high chemical resistance, high mechanical properties, heat & cold resistance and ozone resistance.
Tratos rolling stock cables should always be installed and operated under the guidelines for selections and the installation in the standards BS EN 50355 and BS EN50343
- BS EN 45545-2 (HL3 R15 & R16)
- BS EN 50305

Application
Tratos medium wall power & control cables are used in rolling stock as fixed wiring or where there is limited flexing. Applications include lighting circuits, control and monitoring circuits in Diesel locomotives, Bi-Mode, Electric high speed, regional passenger trains, city metro and light rail tram vehicles. Tratos’ cables meet the requirements of the modern railway industry; they are halogen free, flame retardant, low smoke and have a low toxicity index. Tratos traction and rolling stock cable products include; medium wall, standard wall and reduced wall specifications to British and European standards; The requirements for temperature, abrasion, and ozone and oil resistance are also easily fulfilled. Halogen free, compact, dual wall power cable for demanding applications.CONSTRUCTION
