SPECIFICATION CW 1326 FOR CABLE POLYETHELENE TWIN – SOLID INSULATION CABLE POLYETHYLENE TWIN – SCREENED – SOLID INSULATION
This specification details the requirements for a solid polyethylene-insulated jelly filled twin-cable with copper conductors made up into units, for use in the local distribution network.- A screened version of the cable is available if specially ordered.
These Outside Plant (OSP) Cables are designed for drawning into underground ducts in the Secondary or Distribution (‘D’-side) of the local distribution Network.
Cable constructions covered include a solid polyethylene-insulated jelly filled pair cable with plain copper conductors made up into units of 10 pairs or sub-units of 5 pairs. The required number of units or sub-units are stranded together before sheathing with a polyethylene sheath applied over a polyethylene coated aluminium foil moister barrier bonded to the sheath. This aluminium foil also acts as an electrostatic screen. The interstices of the cable are specified as completely filled with a water-blocking compound, rip cords are applied under the moisture barrier to ease removal of the foil and the sheath.
The standard number of pairs available is 2 Pr, 5 Pr, 10 Pr, 20 Pr, 30 Pr, 50 Pr and 100 Pr other numbers of pairs available on request
