BS 5467
BS 5467 covers electric cables, thermosetting insulated, armoured cables of rated voltages of 600/1000 V and 1900/3300 V for fixed installations. Specification.
The British Standard BS 5467 specifies requirements for the construction and performance of thermosetting insulated, armoured cables of rated voltages of 600/1000 V and 1900/3300 V.
BS 5467 standard is applicable to cables for use in fixed installations in industrial areas, buildings or similar applications it includes the following types of cables:
- 600/1000 V cables, wire armoured and oversheathed, having single-core, two-core, three-core, four-core and five-core stranded copper conductor or solid aluminium conductor;
- 600/1000 V multicore auxiliary cables, wire armoured and oversheathed, stranded copper conductor; and 1900/3300 V cables, wire armoured and oversheathed, having a single-core or three-core stranded copper conductor.
- 1900/3300 V cables, wire armoured and oversheathed, having single-core, or three-core, stranded copper conductor or solid aluminium conductor;
BS 5467 specifies the requirements for low voltage armoured cables with thermosetting insulation of rated voltages 600/1000V for use in fixed installation in industrial wiring, mains distribution, auxiliary control and similar applications, where there is risk of mechanical damage and some form of protection is required.
BS 5467 standard ensures that cables are constructed and tested to meet stringent safety and performance criteria, making them suitable for robust and reliable power distribution in various environments.
