We use advanced testing equipment designed for complete cables, exposing them to intense flexing, bending, and tension. If a cable survives our rigorous testing without damage, it assures our customers of its durability. For smaller insulations, we conduct tensile tests to determine its breaking point and the amount of load required for that. With sheathing compounds, we take a sample, prepare it to an even thickness, and then shape it into a dumbbell form. This sample undergoes physical tests to ascertain its load-bearing capacity, elongation rate, and whether the compound was processed and cured properly. A small dumbbell sample, for instance, represents a pulling force of 12.5 mega Pascals. However, this is negligible when you consider a large three-core 50 or 70 square millimetre cable. Such cables require tons of tension force to experience any meaningful impact. That’s why we’ve built a specialized test rig that allows us to test long samples of these cables under multi-ton forces. Post-testing, we ensure there hasn’t been any internal damage to the cable.
