Tratos is pleased to announce it has adopted the Telecom Italia Code of Ethics which adheres to the United Nations Global Compact on human rights, labour standards, protection of the environment and anti corruption measures.
Under this self regulatory code, Tratos will carry out initiatives in the environmental and social fields with special reference to environmental policies and social policies regarding child labour, compulsory labour, health and security, freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining, discrimination, disciplinary procedures, working hours and wages.
It is Telecom Italia’s belief that ethical business conduct is also a condition for a firm’s success – an ideal that Tratos is firmly committed to. Tratos, for example, already has a strong environmental policy in place and works with customers to find more environmentally friendly solutions to their cable requirements, such as cables without halogens and the Tratos-Green cable made using purely hydroelectric energy. In fact Tratos Cavi has been using clean renewable energy from its very own hydroelectric plant since 1980. Most recently its newly acquired UK manufacturing facility in Knowsley, Cheshire has been awarded ISO 14001:2004 certification for its Environmental Management Systems.
