Recently BSI has proudly announced the launch of a brand new BSI Kitemark certification scheme for Cables.
This new independent and impartial certification scheme will help manufacturers gain certification for some of the most commonly required standards for electric cables, including:
- IEC 60227 – International Electrotechnical Commission standard for flexible cords and cables. It covers general requirements for flexible cables and cords suitable for use in electrical installations.
- IEC 60245 – International Electrotechnical Commission standard for flexible rubber-sheathed cables. It covers requirements for the construction, testing and marking of insulated flexible rubber-sheathed cables suitable for use in electrical installations.
- EN 50525BS – European Standard for harmonized cables and wires of rated voltages up to and including 450/750V. It covers requirements for the construction, testing and marking of harmonized cables and wires suitable for use in electrical installations.
- EN 50214 – European Standard for harmonized cables and wires of rated voltages up to and including 1 kV. It covers requirements for the construction, testing and marking of harmonized cables and wires suitable for use in electrical installations.
- BS 6004 – British Standard for cables up to 1.9/3.3 kV. It covers requirements for the construction, testing and marking of cables suitable for use in electrical installations.
- BS 7211 – British Standard for cables up to 3.3/6 kV. It covers requirements for the construction, testing and marking of cables suitable for use in electrical installations.
- BS 7629 – British Standard for cables up to 6/10 kV. It covers requirements for the construction, testing and marking of cables suitable for use in electrical installations.
- BS 834 – British Standard for cables up to 11/17.5 kV. It covers requirements for the construction, testing and marking of cables suitable for use in electrical installations.
In the field of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) Fire Testing of cables, BSI is recognised as one of the leading UK-approved Notified Bodies for cables, UKCA mark. (NB0086).
