Quantum Information Technology – White Paper

The IEC Market Strategy Board (MSB) has produced a white paper on Quantum Information Technology. The Quantum technology is an emerging field that brings together engineering and physics.

The paper, not only discuss the importance of this emerging filed, but it also explores and investigate when is the right time to begin standardisation work on new and emerging technologies. It also touch on the matter of standardisation readiness and challenges within this field.

The demands of 21st century information generation, transmission, and processing are rapidly exceeding the capabilities of conventional electromagnetic systems. Progress will depend increasingly on quantum information technology (QIT). This white paper addresses a wide range of considerations, from the motivations for developing QIT to the roles of standardization associated with anticipated QIT products.

The paper was published on the IEC website.
