The first pillar is foundational: running a safe, responsible and prosperous business.
Global Economic Goals
For more than 50 years Tratos’ mission has been ‘to create jobs in deprived areas’ and with it reduce poverty, and bring hope … read more
As such, this pillar includes issues that lay at the heart of our business.
Safety is our top priority because simply put, we care for the people we work with. We, therefore, have robust standards, processes and tools embedded across our business to protect the health and safety of our people, our environment and our communities.
Maintaining and enhancing our prosperity is also critical because only a prosperous business can create sustained, long-term value not only to shareholders but also to communities, governments and employees. In a market economy, profit plays an important role in creating incentives for businesses and entrepreneurs. It can help increase efficiency, provide greater choice for consumers and allocate resources according to consumer preferences. At Tratos it has helped to implement a strong Social Corporate Responsibility, as well as spending more on research and development. This has enabled Tratos to be up-front with the latest trends in technology and improve its dynamic efficiency.
Other relevant activities that fulfill Tratos obligations to other parts of its business also include the commitment to the rights and wellbeing of its employees, the ethics and integrity of its business and supply chain and respect for the environment. In its Code of Ethics Tratos has committed to supporting humanity throughout its journey in this world, by developing and innovating continuously, never compromising on quality since 1966. Important to mention here the transparency: because Tratos firmly believes that giving access to information about its way of conducting business, is critical to building trust with its stakeholders. Tratos regularly discloses relevant information on how it conducts business and other aspects of its sustainable performance.
Health, Safety and wellbeing
As the majority of adults spend a lot of their lives at work, problems caused by an unhealthy work environment can harm their mental and physical health. Working in a healthy and safe environment improves workers’ happiness and makes their lives better overall. That’s why we at Tratos invest a lot towards promoting and protecting the health and the wellbeing of our workers.
Quality
At Tratos quality is more than a promise to its loyal customers. It is everyone’s responsibility. Quality assurances and control are at the heart of Tratos’ genuine performance since 1966. Our products are continuously and rigorously tested to meet all the certified standards. Tratos never compromises on the quality of its products and that is what makes the difference from the others.
Safer Structures
Tratos is championing the Safer Structures Campaign, which is urging the UK Government to raise the safety standards of cables in homes and buildings across the country. Tratos advocates quality and safety, which can mean a slightly higher cost. It is time to act bold and according to the saying: Buy quality, buy once, stay safe!
Approved Cables Initiative (ACI)
Tratos is a proud member of the Approved Cables Initiative (ACI), an industry-wide working group, which highlights the dangers of unsafe, substandard, non-approved and counterfeit cable to the cable supply industry (electric and data) and the general public. Tratos is pushing for changes to the UK legislation to stop dangerous cable being imported and to increase the penalties for infringements.
Europacable
Tratos is a proud member of Europacable. An association that offers support to all the leading European wire and cable producers.
Construction Products Regulation (CPR)
Being compliant with Construction Products Regulation (CPR) is one of the long-term goals of Tratos’ sustainable development strategy. CPR deals with the way a product is placed on the market – the methods of assessment and testing, how the performance of a product should be declared and the conformance system of assessment for construction products.
Governance
Tratos’ Governance has been defined over the years to refer to its structures and processes that are designed to ensure accountability, transparency, responsiveness, rule of law, stability, equity and inclusiveness, empowerment, and broad-based participation. It also represents Tratos culture, norms, values and rules through which Tratos conducts its business.
Transparency
At Tratos we believe that greater transparency and accountability is key to building trust and encouraging sustainable business practices. Transparency fosters a type of comfort that allows our employees to communicate effectively. Transparent, clear and honest communication builds trust, which is essential to the overall progress and sustainable growth of Tratos’ business.
