This hybrid non-armoured cable contains both fibres for communication and copper cores to supply low voltage power intended to connect from an existing NGA cabinet to G.fast plant in the Openreach Network. 

These cables are suitable for installation in underground duct network infrastructure. 

The fibres are for use in transmission systems operating over the wavelength range 1260nm to 1625nm.

This hybrid cable is specifically designed with a fibre unit of loose tube construction contain 12 solid core, solid cladding, colour coded, step index single mode fibres. This unit is surrounded with glass yarns to act as a strength member and provide protection to the unit. Also include in this hybrid cable are 3 stranded class 2 Polyethylene insulated 10mm2 colour code cores, Blue, Grey, Green/Yellow. These three cores are laid up helically with the fibre optic unit in the centre.

The assembly of cores and fibre unit are covered overall with an aluminium foil moisture barrier bonded to a physically robust high density Red polyethylene sheath, a rip cord is inserted under the sheath to aid stripping and termination of the cable. 

Tratos has developed this cable to have the optimum balance of properties, toughness to withstand pulling and bending during installation combined with a smooth, low coefficient of friction, surface, to ease installation and prevent jamming.

The Step Index single-mode optical fibre (9/125µm SMF) fibres used to manufacture these cables meet or exceed the requirements for both Category 2 as specified in CW 1505 for systems operating in the wavelength range of 1260nm to 1625nm.

Tratos uses OFS and Prysmian fibres to manufacture the single mode Optical Fibre Cables supplied to BT.

These cables meet or exceed the requirements of CW 1902,

All of the polymeric materials used in the construction of cables for BT meet or exceed the requirements of BT Specification CW1500-7 and are RoSH compliant
