Tratos Track Feeder Cables – according to Network Rail Standard

Tratos DC Traction Power Cables are single-core cables designed for railway and underground applications, meeting strict Network Rail standards. They support both 750V and 1500V systems, feature advanced water-blocking and robust, chemical-resistant insulation, and are rigorously tested for safety and durability.
Tratos DC Traction Power Cables – Network Rail Standard NR/L2/ELP/23002 Module 02, 750V and 1500V DC traction power cables
Single core DC traction feeder cables for operating and use on conductor rail equipment (CRE) systems, both positive and negative polarity with a nominal voltage of 750 Volts direct current (DC) and maximum permanent voltage up to 900 Volts and on DC overhead line equipment (OLE) systems with a nominal voltage of 750 Volts and 1500 Volts.
Single-core DC traction cables are also specified and installed to integrate Negative Short-Circuiting Devices (NSCD) and existing controlled track switches (CTS) application.
DC traction power cables produced and supplied by Tratos have been awarded Network Rail full Product Acceptance PA05/07386.
Network Rail NR/L2/ELP/23003 Module 02 standard applies to all new direct current (DC) traction cables installed on DC electrified lines and supersedes the Network Rail standard NR/PS/ELP/21101 (formerly RT/E/S/21101).
These cables are suitable for surface laid on ballast without additional mechanical protection and are subject to compressive loading on sharp-edged ballast. They are also suitable for installation in concrete troughing.
Tratos DC traction cables with either aluminium and copper class 2 conductors have longitudinal water blocking with swellable polyester, non woven fabric tapes in their construction, for the cable to withstand prolonged submersion in water without damage or deterioration in performance. Water blocking in the cable is used to limit the spread of damage in the cable in the event of water penetration.
The insulation layer of rubber compound developed by Tratos has excellent electrical and water-resistant properties, meeting or exceeding the requirements for Type GP5 of GP5 to BS 7655-1.2. The outer sheath rubber compound has also been developed in-house by Tratos and is a physically robust rubber elastomeric material having a maximum material operating temperature of 90ºC and mechanical performance equal or superior to type RS4 as defined in BS 7655 Section 2.3, with the additional benefit of a tear resistance greater than 7.5N/mm. The outer sheath layer also provides outstanding resistance to chemical contamination from mineral oil, diesel, weed-killing and de-icing fluids
Tratos DC traction cables that are specified & installed in tunnels over 0.1km in length, underground locations and sub-surface stations meet the minimum reaction to fire requirements for B2ca-s1a, d0, a1 as defined in BS EN 13501-6; The Construction Products Regulation (CPR).
As the actual manufacturer of DC traction cables, Tratos has total control of the design, quality and manufacturing process from the purchase of the raw materials through to final testing and despatch to our customers. Tratos have years of experience successfully supplying Railways and Mass Transit systems around the world.
Both of the covering layers are extruded, crosslinked material applied by extrusion in two closely adherent layers. This covering forms a compact, homogeneous body that fits closely over the separator tape. This two-layer covering provides the optimum balance between electrical and mechanical properties.
Tracker Feeder Cables can also be manufactured according to: Transport for London (TfL) / London Underground Ltd (LUL)) standards; TfL S1923 A1 DC Traction Feeder Cables, formerly TfL S1108 (EME-SP-014-025).
