Track Feeder Cables for Railways and Underground applications

Continued investment in the latest technology, materials and human resources enables Tratos to supply a wide spectrum of specialised railways’ Track Feeder Cables.

Tratos DC 750V and 1500V traction cables can be installed on DC electrified main lines as well as underground mass transit lines using CRE systems or DC OLE systems. They are also used as part of the return circuit on AC lines connecting the running rails to the substation.

Track Feeder Cables with both stranded aluminium or tinned copper conductors up to and including 935 mm2 can be supplied with either a single layer covering or a dual-layer insulated and sheathed cable. Insulation materials used are typically Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR) with an oversheath of tough, high tear resistant flexible elastomeric material either halogenated or non-halogenated low smoke (LSZH) rubber.

Tratos Track Feeder Cables are constructed to be compact and circular to aid installation, they are designed to withstand the conditions encountered during installation into ducts, suspended on J hooks or simply laid trackside. The materials Tratos use to make their cables have been proven to withstand the environmental condition experienced by exposed trackside and track crossing cables including where spillages of diesel fuel, lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids, aggressive chemicals and water are present.

Tratos track feeder cables can be supplied with water blocked conductors when required although to give additional assurance to customers. These cables have been subject to a long term wet ageing test with a minimum duration of 6 months.

Tratos Limited Fire hazard (LSZH) cables have their fire performance assessed by tests including flammability, smoke emissions and toxic fume emissions. Tratos track feeder cables supplied to TfL and other subsurface mass transit systems are compliant with S1085 Fire Safety Performance of Materials.

Based upon years of experience Tratos manufacture its track feeder cables to have the optimum balance of electrical, mechanical and fire performance.

Fixed trackside communication and signalling cables including Data & Telecommunications (copper & fibre optic) as well as Signalling Power & Control Cables.
