Cathodic Protection Cables

Tratos Cathodic Protection Cables are manufactured in accordance with various National and International Standards as well as individual Company Specifications. Theyare designed for use in both active and passive cathodic protection systems.

Continued investment in the latest technology, materials and human resources enables Tratos to supply a wide spectrum of specialised cables for use in Cathodic protection systems. A well-designed and installed cathodic protection system will eliminate and prevent corrosion in Metals.

RANGE

Tratos Cathodic Protection Cables available include designs with Plain or Tinned annealed copper, Stranded Class 2 conductors, (Flexible Class 5 available on request). Insulated and sheathed designs both with and without armour.
Depending upon the type of insulation designs are available from 6mm2 up to and including 185mm2
Types of Insulations available include:

  • LDPE (Low-density polyethylene)
  • MDPE (Medium density polyethylene)
  • HMWPE (High molecular weight polyethylene)
  • XLPE (Cross-linked polyethylene)
  • PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride – Kynar)

All Tratos insulations exhibit excellent electrical characteristics

Types of Sheaths available include:

  • PVC (Polyvinylchloride)
  • MDPE (Medium density polyethylene)
  • HMWPE (High molecular weight polyethylene)

All Tratos sheaths exhibit excellent moisture resistance, they resist the abrasion and typical conditions encountered during installation. They exhibit fuel and oil resistance; in addition, cables sheathed with PVDF exhibit excellent resistance to acids and chemicals; PVDF cables have excellent UV resistance and are flame retardant.
Armour consists of a layer of Galvanised Steel Wires applied helically – other types of armour are available on request.

The standard range of cables is based upon IEC 60502-1 ( BS IEC 60502-1); designs to other Standards are also available on request
Designed to be maintenance-free, Tratos Cathodic protection cables offer exceptional long-term reliability and performance.

BENEFITS

Tratos specialises in the Design, Development and Production of cables for Cathodic protection systems and has a great many years of experience supplying cables with proven reliability to customers worldwide. All Tratos Cathodic protection cables are distinguished by the use of advanced technology to manufacture cables with increased pliability, decreased weight and increased strength.

Tratos Engineers work closely with manufacturers and suppliers of Cathodic protection systems and accessory manufacturers including joints, terminations and fixings to help ensure trouble-free installation.

APPLICATIONS

A Cathodic Protection Cable is typically a single conductor cable that is intended to carry a DC current to anodes and cathodes in a cathodic protection system.
A well-designed and installed cathodic protection system will eliminate and prevention the corrosion of steel pipelines and steel storage tanks, offshore oil and gas installations, offshore wind farms, ships and other maritime applications. Depending upon the design, cables are suitable for directly buried installations, and installation in air or water.

INNOVATION

Tratos Cathodic protection cables are distinguished by Tratos’ ongoing investment in the latest technology, materials and human resources needed to meet the highest safety and performance requirements demanded by the many critical and varied industries that employ Cathodic Protection Systems.

Tratos Knowsley site in the Northwest of England manufactures a comprehensive range of innovative cables for use in cathodic protection systems worldwide.
