Tratos’ LSOH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) Waveform multicore cable has achieved Construction Products Regulation, Reaction to Fire Classification: B2ca, s1a, d0, a1.
Tratos’ Waveform concentric conductor design, for neutral/earth, offers easier connections, without cutting the cable. Instead, the sheath can be removed, then, thanks to the concentric conductor’s waveform pattern, the wires can be opened to allow the cable jointer to tap into one of the inner power cores. Once the connection is finished the integrity of the outer sheath is reinstated with a T- joint covering.
This design of cable allows DNO installers to tap supplies off it without cutting the conductors/cores themselves. In standard armoured cable, the whole cable would have to be cut to tap a supply.
Construction Products Regulation (CPR) assesses the reaction to fire performance of construction products throughout the EU enabling their comparison from different manufacturers in different countries. It deals with the way a product is placed on the market, how its performance is declared and the conformance system of assessment.
Last year, Tratos raised the bar in fire safety by calling for a higher specification cable (Cca) as the minimum standard and for Regulator intervention to mandate for the same minimum class of performance (Cca) for all reaction to fire cable in the UK.
