Tratos has been awarded a further contract to supply a fully compliant cable to a new London Underground (LU) issued specification for Transport for London’s Four Lines Modernisation (4LM) programme.
The Low Smoke Zero Halogen, elastomeric earthing and bonding cable complies fully with LU S1085 A4 (Fire safety materials code of practice) with an operational cable service life of 40 years. It meets all the required electrical, physical and fire safety code of practice demands for London Underground without compromising the safety critical signalling and power systems.
The 4LM project will update four of the most important sub-surface lines: Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan which between them account for 40 percent of underground traffic. As part of the work, the signalling system must be supported by the installation of bonding between substations and the track and within the track environment (cross and longitudinal bonds) to reduce the danger of touch potentials.
Chris Harris, UK Sales Manager Mass Transit said: “Tratos has a recognised track record for supplying cable solutions to railway infrastructure projects. Here our cable was UKAS independently tested earlier this year and was deemed to comply fully with the London Underground specification”.
Tratos has supplied to date more than 1,400,000 km of axle counter cable, low voltage signalling power and control cable to Thales GTS for the largest project of its kind which will increase capacity within London Underground.
Tratos’ continual UK investment enables the company to deliver a wide range of specialised cable solutions including Medium and High Voltage cable for substation connection and switchgear; Data and Telecommunication Cable (copper & fibre optic), Signalling Power & Control cables, OLE cable, Track Feeder cable and Rolling Stock cable.
