TRATOSFIBRE-DB®

TRATOSFIBRE DB is a TRATOS designed and manufactured flexible fibre optic cable, mainly used on festoon systems on all kind of cranes used for material handling, it was designed in response to the need for cables with reduced dimension to operate on festooning systems where small diameter and light weigh have advantages in windy conditions so it is specially recommended for port applications. This cable is another member of the wide TRATOSFLEX range of flexible cables for power and data transmission in applications where the cable moves in operation.Its unique cable design focuses on tightening the internal structure, granting the cable a phenomenal strength and flexibility and reduced outer diameter, which prevents breakage and elongation ensuring that the cable lasts longer under constant severe operating conditions to providing a reliable communication link to the equipment to which it connects. TRATOSFIBRE DB also features a black outer sheath of special TRATOSFIBRE DB OS compound, it has antitorsion protection and high strength centre support.

The cable can contain a variety of fibres, multimode (62/125) or monomode (9/125) , the TRATOS standard being 24 Fibres but it is available in 6, 12 or 18 Fibres.

Today TRATOSFLEX cables are installed in more than 300 ports & terminals worldwide used in the most demanding applications for prestigious global operators, including manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic yards. Its unique construction and materials make these cable suitable for all types of festoon application. From festoon systems on smaller yard cranes, type RTG (Rubber Tyred Gantry), RMG (Rail Mounted Gantry) or ASC (Automatic Stacking Crane); to the larger festoon system used in Ship unloaders and STS cranes (Ship to Shore) including high speed applications and motorised festoons on speeds up to 240 mpm. TRATOSFIBRE DB can also be found on festoon cable applications in other industries not only port machinery, anywhere FO communication is required through a cable operating under severe conditions or stresses, where high mechanical strength is needed.
