TRATOSLIGHT-VRDB® TRATOSLIGHT-VRDB-FO®

LOW VOLTAGE CONTROL CABLES Vertical Reels

Special Cables / Reeling Cables - Tratosflex

TRATOSLIGHT VRDB / TRATOSLIGHT VRDB-FO low voltage control cable is a TRATOS designed and manufactured flexible crane cable for vertical payout cable reels on all types of cranes for material handling; it was designed and developed in response to a requirement for a high-speed, high pulling tension and high torsion-resistant cable for reeling on vertical fed spreader applications. TRATOSLIGHT-VRDB® / TRATOSLIGHT-VRDB-FO® cables are members of the highly flexible range of TRATOSFLEX crane cables for control and data transmission in applications where the cable moves in operation.

Its unique cable design focuses on tightening the internal structure, granting the cable exceptional strength and flexibility in a cable with a reduced outer diameter and weight. This design prevents twisting and breakage due to elongation caused by the cable operating vertically, and it lasts longer under constant severe and windy operating conditions, thus providing a reliable electrical control and communication link to the equipment to which it is connected.

TRATOSLIGHT also features the special elastomeric compound Tratoslight-OS as its outer sheath, coloured yellow for enhanced visibility. This sheath is highly resistant to abrasion and tearing. Manufactured with a very fine conductor Cl. 6 DIN VDE EN 60228 VDE 0295, a special custom-made reinforced centre support, and an anti-torsion braid, an Optical Fibre cable unit can be integrated if required; either single mode (62,5/125) or multimode (9/125).
These successful designs proven in Ports around the world allow these cables to outperform rivals on cranes in ports across the globe at speeds up to 300 metres per minute.(mpm)

Today, TRATOSLIGHT cables are installed in more than 300 ports & terminals worldwide, operating in the most demanding applications for prestigious global operators, including manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic yards. Its unique construction and materials make this crane cable suitable for crane travelling speeds up to 300 m.p.m on the world’s tallest cranes used in Ports today.

These crane cables are recommended for all types of mobile equipment used inside of ports, including the most challenging vertical reeling applications. From the tallest STS cranes (including various triple-E cranes and super post-panamax) to the largest shipyard Goliath Cranes, portal cranes or Ship Unloaders (SU), the cable can control and monitor all types of material grab equipment, such as various types of spreaders (including fully electric), grabs or rotating hooks used for container, bulk materials and steel of various types. TRATOSLIGHT VRDB is available in a variety of constructions to suit the individual application. These include screened pairs and/or Fibre Optic units, the most recommended choice for communication on the latest, most advanced spreaders with complex communication features such as cameras and sensors, often related to automation and enhanced safety.
