Tratosubmarine power cable is manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502-2 and HD620. Constructed with HEPR or XLPE insulation, Tratos HV copper or aluminium conductor, extruded HEPR or XLPE insulated cables offer exceptional long term reliability and performance. Protective finishes include single or double wire armour and robust MDPE or HDPE sheaths. Optical fibre units can be incorporated into these MV cables if required.
Tratos is the first and only cable manufacturer in Europe to achieve BASEC approval for medium voltage (MV) cables to BS 7870-4.10, a cable type specifically intended for a wide range of cable applications between 6.35 and 33kV for power distribution.
Our in-house testing facilities include one of the largest Faraday Cage buildings in Europe which allows us to perform partial discharge testing on exceptionally long lengths of cable. Careful design, strict control of our production process and a comprehensive test programme allows us to follow and meet the requirements of any national or international technical authority and so allow the issue of the appropriate type test certification either with our approved in-house facilities or using external independent laboratories.
Tratos’ commitment to client support is demonstrated through its dedicated technical team which liaises and works closely with engineers, consultants and installers to achieve the optimum cable solution to meet the environmental conditions prevailing in the actual application.
Tratos Engineers work closely with manufacturers of Medium Voltage (MV) and High Voltage (HV) accessories including joints, terminations and fixings.
Tratos are also able to supply High Voltage (HV) cables up to 145 kV on request, samples of which have been successfully tested by KEMA.
