TRATOSFLEX-RTG-RF® HighVision – Reflective & Fluorescent Cable for Port
TratosFlex-RTG-RF® Reflective Fluorescent Cable is engineered to meet the exacting demands of container handling operations, specifically for Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes.
Rubber-Tired Gantry Cranes, or RTGs, are crucial for moving containers in terminal yards and account for over 50% of a port’s fuel consumption. Traditional RTGs use diesel engines to generate electricity, leading to high fuel costs and environmental impact.
However, converting RTGs to electric power can cut diesel fuel consumption by about 95%, significantly reducing costs and environmental impact for modern ports.
Reducing accidental damage to the cable means increased safety and an extended working life, thus increasing the efficiency and productivity of your reeling operation by reducing expensive downtime.
Accidental cable damage reduces safety, shortens its lifespan, and leads to costly downtime. Preventing damage improves safety, extends lifespan, and boosts operational efficiency.
Tratos introduces Tratosflex-RTG-RF High-Vision, an innovative solution for powering RTG cranes. This high-visibility cable boosts safety and productivity, especially at night.
The Tratosflex-RTG-RF offers two visibility features:
- R for Reflective – Reflective stripes shine with minimal light, like car headlights or smartphones, similar to high-visibility jackets.
- F for fluorescent – The fluorescent compound glows for up to 8 hours without external power, perfect for harsh port environments.
With medium voltage, flexible EPR insulation, and patented technology, Tratosflex-RTG-RF ensures long-lasting safety and efficiency for port operations.
Traatosflex-RTG-RF uses a technology patented by Tratos, which is applied inside the compound itself.
Tratosflex-RTG-RF – Reflective Fluorescent Cable is designed to meet the rigorous demands of container handling with Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes. Engineered with advanced technology and premium materials, it ensures durability and reliability, even under high mechanical stress, for uninterrupted RTG crane operations.
Tratosflex-RTG-RF cable features control, signalling, and bus capabilities for precise communication and efficient container handling. Its flexible design allows easy installation with RTG crane structures, enhancing productivity, efficiency, and safety.

Today, TRATOSFLEX reeling cables are installed at more than 300 ports & terminals worldwide in the most demanding applications for prestigious global operators, including manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic yards. Its unique construction and materials make these cables suitable for high-speed centre and end feed applications, including high-speed over-the-centre feeding point. These crane cables are especially recommended for the Electrification of RTG in Low voltage (E-RTG) due to the travelling speeds and pulling tensions. The design of these reeling cables can be customised, including Fibre Optics or screened pairs for communication, depending on the requirements and functions of the E-RTG. Equally applicable and specially durable for various types of mobile equipment used in ports, mining, shipyards and other industrial sectors, they can be found providing power to STS container cranes, Ship Unloaders (SU), Stacker Reclaimer (SR), Multipurpose Cranes these are just a few of the types of cranes where this cable is used.
