Fixed trackside power cables include High voltage and Medium voltage cables supplying power to substations and switchgear, Track Feeder cable and OLE cable. Fixed trackside communication and signalling cables including Data & Telecommunications (copper & fibre optic) as well as Signalling Power & Control cables. Tratos are also a major supplier of Rolling Stock cables including Inter car jumpers and Pantograph cables.
Tratos MV cables are available with circular stranded copper or aluminium conductors and triple extruded, dry cured HEPR or XLPE insulation. Metallic insulation screens can be copper tape or wires, single or three core, armoured or unarmoured. Polyethylene or PVC sheathed up to 26/45 kV. Water blocked and Lead sheathed versions are also available.
Tratos is the first and only cable manufacturer in Europe to achieve BASEC approval for Medium Voltage cables to BS 7870-4.10, a cable type specifically intended for a wide range of cable applications between 6.35 and 33kV for power distribution.
Tratos HV cables are available with circular stranded or segmental compacted copper conductors and triple extruded, dry cured XLPE insulation. copper wires metallic insulation screen, single core, unarmoured. Aluminium tape or lead sheath water barrier, HDPE sheathed.

Tratos MV and HV cables are used to connect railway substations to the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) national power networks when the requirement is for underground not overhead cables, an increasing requirement to help protect areas of natural beauty or for localised biological and ecological reasons.
