Tratos and Imagro Construction Srl cooperation
Tratos has supplied low and medium voltage cables to Imagro Construction as part of the construction change at the Assiut 1000 MW Power Plant in Egypt from a simple cycle to a combined cycle, increasing capacity by 50 percent.
This project helped in delivering more energy to some 3.5 million people in the Assiut Governorate. As the generated power is connected to the national grid, outlying populations have also benefited from this project.
The additional power generated from this project boosted the economic growth of Egypt and improved the living standards of millions by satisfying the increasing demand for electricity in a cost-effective and reliable manner.

New Assiut Power Plant 1000 MW
The Assiut Power plant is owned by the Upper Egypt Electricity Production Company.
Plant Description
- Eight (8) CTGs, GE (PG 9171E) dual fired Gas Turbine Generator equipment package with all required Balance of Plant systems.
- The plant uses heavy fuel oil (Mazout) as the main fuel and light fuel oil (Solar) as the secondary fuel.
- Power generated is stepped up through main transformers and fed to the utility 220 kV grid, via a Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) switchyard.
- The plant uses ground water as its water source.
